Update 27th March 2020

As you know, the HSE is moving to postpone non-urgent health procedures in order to redirect staff and resources to support the response to COVID-19. As such, the National Screening Service has decided to temporarily pause the population-based screening programme CervicalCheck. We will review this decision on April 19, in line with the Government’s actions, and then communicate with you further. In making this decision, the health, wellbeing and safety of our service users continues to be our principal concern.

What we are asking you to do:
 - Please do not take any cervical screening samples until advised otherwise due to the projections of increasingly limited capacity in gynaecology services for non-emergency cases
 - Do continue to see symptomatic women when safe to do so and still refer for colposcopy if needed. In line with programme guidelines symptomatic women should be referred directly without a sample being taken.

Note that if you take a sample during this period it will not be processed.
